Annie Shaw searches for the inner beauty and mystery in her surroundings. Her approach is towards the mythological and the symbolic, taking references from the past and as seen within the everyday as in Awaiting in Dungarvan Town Park.

Annie was educated at Cambridge School of Art and at St. Martin’s London where she received an honours degree in Fashion & Textile Design. After many years working as a fashion designer, she retrained as a garden designer winning awards at both Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. Following a long and successful career she concentrated on painting religious icons and symbolic works of art. She was received into the Russian Orthodox Church and was instructed into painting devotional icons in the Byzantine/Float technique, using egg tempera. She set up The Fellowship of St. Luke to enable her to teach and keep this traditional method of painting alive. Annie receives numerous commissions from around the world for her icons as well as developing skills in other forms of painting. Annie and her husband moved to Ireland a few years ago.
