Gemma Branigan completed her Degree in Fine Art Painting in Limerick School of Art & Design achieving First Class Honours in June 08. In 2005 she studied Fine Art in the Universidad Complutense Madrid. Branigan’s work "has a feeling for the poetics of spaces" writes art critic Aidan Dunne in The Irish Times of LSAD Degree Show. She has been short listed for Éigse Arts Festival, the Rose Project Student Award, the RDS Student Art Exhibition as well as the Markievicz Gold Medal Trust where she received special recognition. She explores the construction of psychological and memory spaces and her reaction to these spaces through the medium of paint.
