Gillian Wright is an Irish multimedia artist from Co Waterford, living and working in Donegal. After time living abroad, she returned to Ireland, where her practice explores memory, place, and lived experience. Her work has been featured in Smashing Times (2023) and Profiles Journal (2022). Gillian is represented by The Open Window Gallery, Dublin. She has exhibited in solo and group shows across Ireland, the UK, the USA, and France. Recent highlights include her solo exhibition Belonging for MHANI 2026 at Eden Place Arts Centre, Derry, and the selection of three works for the upcoming Ironbridge International Printmaking Competition 2026 UK.

Selkie (Linocut, Chine Collé & Collagraph on Fabriano 72x86cm framed) is inspired by treasured family memories of summers by the sea: bubbling water alive with mackerel, the shrill excitement of her young sons pulling in full fishing rods, long bright evenings, delicious suppers, and precious times spent together. It also quietly reflects on the changing condition of our coastal environment, including the worrying decline in mackerel populations. While the title references Celtic folklore, the work is rooted in lived experience. For Gillian, Selkie represents the enduring pull of the sea and the memories it holds, a reflection on family, belonging, and the connection between people and place.
